Solutions:

1.  There are no back buttons, how do I navigate the app?

The app now has 3 levels: 1) navigation pane/home screen, 2) timeline list view (headlines), and 3) Story view. Use a short swipe in either direction to browse between stories. Use a long swipe from the left edge of the screen to go back a level. No need to tap buttons. The navigation is now gesture-based.

2.  How do I organize the tiles on my home screen?

While on the home screen, tap the gear icon in the upper right corner of the top nav bar. Tap and hold the three horizontal bar icon to reorder your tiles. Tap the red circle icon to delete a category. If there is no red circle icon that category/tile can be reordered but not deleted.

3.  How do I turn off alerts?

Alert notifications are controlled in device settings, not within the app. Go to your device settings, click “notifications” and tap on the AP Mobile application. Here you have the options to:

a.    Turn on/off notifications.

b.    Select the number of recent items you want to show.

c.    Choose the alert style.

d.    Turn on/off the badge app icon (On the upper right hand corner of the app icon, this is the red circle with a number in the center showing the number of notifications for that app).

e.    Turn on/off the alert sound.

f.     Turn on/off the ability to view the notification on the lock screen.

4.  How do I add additional categories of content to my home screen?

While on the home screen, tap the gear icon in the upper right corner of the top nav bar. Tap the + icon on the upper right corner of the top nav bar to see the full content listing. You can add categories, subcategories (like football within sports), big stories and big stories as tiles.

5.  How do I add additional local publishers?

While on the home screen, tap the gear icon in the upper right corner of the top nav bar. Tap the + icon on the upper right corner of the top nav bar and then “add local,” in the top nav bar of the next screen. You can adjust where the local tile shows on the home page after the tile is loaded. (see item 2 above)

6.  Why can’t I see my local newspaper in the local section?
The Associated Press is a cooperative of local member newspapers and broadcasters. Your local paper has to be a member of the Associated Press and be willing to be part of the AP Mobile app before we can show their content to you. The breadth and scope of local content provided in the app depends entirely on the Member.

7.  Why do alerts not have stories associated with them?

The AP is dedicated to delivering breaking news to its users as it happens. This sometimes requires us to send push notification alerts even before the story is ready. Once the story has been written we will connect it to the alert. You will see this icon (alert_with story icon_24x24) on the home screen top nav bar, which will indicate that tapping on the alert will take you directly to the story.

8.  How do I send suggestions on how to improve the app?

While on the home screen, tap the gear icon in the upper right corner of the top nav bar. You will see “Settings” at the bottom of the screen. Tap this settings button and then tap “Support” or “Feature Request” to send an email with your suggestion or concern.

9.  Do you support other languages besides English?

AP Mobile does have stories in Spanish.  Upon first launch you are given the option to select a region.  There are options here for: 1) US English, 2) Noticias en Espanol, and 3) International.

Once you are in the application you also have the ability to change your region by following the steps below:

a.    Tap on the Settings icon.

b.    Tap on Settings button and select your new region.

10.  If I see news happening can I share it with the AP?

Of course and we have an easy way for you to do that. Tap the gear icon from the home screen and then tap the “Report News to AP” button at the bottom to share your story.
