Relaunch of AP Mobile for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch!

It’s here!  Our all new universal app for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch is now available in http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ap-mobile/id284901416?mt=8.

With a completely new look and feel and more consistent and complete experience across devices you now can experience AP Mobile in style.  AP News, the previous iPad only app, will be retired and the new AP Mobile app will replace it for iPad.

AP Mobile for Windows Phone 7 now supports Mango!

It took a little longer than we had hoped but there is an update to AP Mobile for WP7 now available in the Windows Marketplace.  The update addresses several key crashes as well as the following:

  • High resolution images are now included!
  • Mango support for Fast application switching – With the application running, tap and hold the device’s back button. The screen will zoom out and allow the user to swipe between other applications that are available to switch to.
  • More Live Tiles – By tapping the pin icon in the app bar, users can now pin news, weather, local, and the saved article/image/video categories. The backside image of live tile displays, when available, a thumbnail image of the most recent article in the pinned category.
  • Numerous bug fixes and metro design updates

Issues with AP Mobile v4.4 for iPhone

It appears that the new 4.4 version of AP Mobile may be having some problems with iOS 4.3.3 that was released almost simultaneously. Since location cache is apparently now deleted by the OS you may need to sync your device with iTunes to re-verify the user account. We apologize for the inconvenience but this issue just started hitting the discussion boards and appears not to be limited to AP Mobile. We are investigating further and will issue a hot fix as necessary.

Users have reported that uninstalling and reinstalling the app seems to do the trick. Also, please email us at iphone_support@ap.org with any information that will help us to fix the issue.

AP Mobile issues on Windows Phone 7 devices

There have been complaints that the AP Mobile app for Windows Phone 7 is crashing frequently. These problems seem to be correlated with an OS upgrade and most complaints are coming from users with HTC devices that were updated to OS version 7.0.7390.0. There was a significant upgrade build already in the works, which we are expecting to release in the next week or two pending final testing. This should address the crashes as well as several other bugs and performance issues. We apologize for any inconvenience but we are working hard to address the issues and provide a best in class app and experience.

iPhone 4.3.2 known bug

Upgraders from 4.3 will experience a crash on first launch, but only first launch. It is recommended that 4.3 users delete the app before installing 4.3.2. This issue will be addressed in 4.4.

4.3.1 upgraders are fine to upgrade.
