Solutions:
1. What is My AP?
My AP is a feature that allows users to select or deselect categories from a list in order to provide them with a customized news experience.
2. How do I customize My AP?
You can find the option to customize My AP under in the category menu by either:
a. Swiping to the right on story timeline to reveal the category menu and then tapping on the My AP tab Settings icon to select or deselect categories by tapping on the circle to the left of the category name.
b. Tapping on the category menu icon in the upper left hand corner of the screen and then tapping on the My AP tab Settings icon to select or deselect categories.
3. How do I enable/disable alerts?
You can stop or edit notification settings by going to your iPhone’s Settings. Under Settings, there is a Notifications section. In here, you can manage notifications for all your applications, including AP Mobile.
From the Notifications setting page, tap on the AP Mobile application. Here you have the options to:
a. Turn on/off notifications.
b. Select the number of recent items you want to show.
c. Choose the alert style.
d. Turn on/off the badge app icon (On the upper right hand corner of the app icon, this is the red circle with a number in the center showing the number of notifications for that app).
e. Turn on/off the alert sound.
f. Turn on/off the ability to view the notification on the lock screen.
4. Can I turn article photos off?
The option to turn photos off is not available at this time.
5. What content can I share/save?
a. You can share content via Email, Twitter or Facebook by tapping on the Share feature icon in the top right hand corner of every story, photo, and video.
b. You can save articles, photos and videos using the Save Story under the Share.
6. How do I send suggestions on how to better the app to the AP?
You can send feature requests, feedback and support questions to the AP via the Feature Request option in the application. Feedback options can be found by tapping on the Settings icon.
7. How do I edit my locations for local and can I turn off some of my local papers?
You can customize their locations by tapping on Local News in the category Browse menu. You then have the option to do any of the following:
a. Delete existing locations by tapping on the Edit tab.
b. Reorder locations by dragging them to desired position in the list.
c. Add new locations by tapping on the “+” tab to bring up Add Location. You can then either insert the City, State or Zip code of desired location or tap on the GPS icon to determine your current location.
8. How do I edit my location for weather?
The option to customize Weather is not available at this time.
9. How do I change my language settings?
The option to change the language of the application menu items is not available at this time. However, AP Mobile does have stories in French and Spanish. Upon initial registration you are given the option to scroll through and select a region. There are options here for English, French and Spanish.
Once you are in the application you also have the ability to change your region by following the steps below:
a. Tap on the Settings icon.
b. Tap on Change Region and select your new region.
c. Tap on “OK” followed by Done.
10. What is Send to AP and who gets it?
Send to AP is the Associated Press’ way of extending the journalism floor to its users. Users can send in news tips and photos directly to AP editors by tapping on the Send to AP icon located in the top right hand corner of MyAP, Big Stories, Local News and all categories. User information is solely used for the purpose of contacting the user to verify the tip or to gather more information.
